Best Practice: Information

COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) Online Successful organizations understand the benefits of information technology (IT) and use this knowledge to drive their shareholders’ value.  They recognize the critical dependence of many business processes on IT, the need to comply with increasing regulatory compliance demands and the benefits of managing risk effectively.  CobiT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) is an IT governance framework and supporting toolset that allows managers to bridge the gap between control requirements, technical issues and business risks. The entire CobiT documentation set is available online for download, or can be purchased in printed form.

A special version called CobiT "QuickStart" is available for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). This special version of CobiT is a baseline for many small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and other entities where IT is not mission-critical or essential for survival. It can also serve as a starting point for other enterprises in their move towards an appropriate level of control and governance of IT.
